But there is a spectacular stretch in Alberta that&#8217;s definitely worth canoeing. This is a shallow river where you want to be really skilled at dodging rocks though. And there are a few big rapids although you might not expect them given the leisurely flow of much of the trip.<\/p>\n<p>Just Anna and I went on this trip in early summer &#8211; it was a chance to spend time together before I left for the arctic.<\/p>\n<p>No posts for a while again as I&#8217;m off on another few weeks of trips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-magnific_type=\"image\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Milk River\" width=\"100%\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5664\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">We started off from the town of Milk River with a couple of beautiful warm days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-8.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-magnific_type=\"image\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-8-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Milk River\" width=\"100%\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5664\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">Hoodoos started showing up as we got close to Writing on Stone Provincial Park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-3\" data-magnific_type=\"image\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Milk River\" width=\"100%\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5664\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">The soft prairie landscapes were so peaceful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-6.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-4\" data-magnific_type=\"image\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/joelkoop.com\/updates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Milk-River-6-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Milk River\" width=\"100%\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5664\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">We did get a solid day of rain as we left Writing on Stone Provincial Park &#8211;
