Frosted Cow Parsnip Macro, Photo of the Day, Plants, Prairie Monday, December 20th, 2010 Backlit frosted fennel (edit: actually Cow Parsnip) in the morning. Taken in Cooking Lake Rec Area. Please correct me if I’m ever wrong in my plant or animal identification – I’m no expert.
Nice shot, and, since you asked—it’s Cow-parsnip (Heracleum lanatum). Same family as Fennel (Carrot/Apiaceae), but the boreal equivalent. Reply
